Renson introduces portals for optimal service delivery and more efficient communication
Increase usability
Within the Renson ventilation systems department, three key players can be identified: end customers who use a Renson ventilation system, professionals who install the Renson systems, and internal employees who act as contacts for any questions or comments regarding a Renson ventilation system. Renson wanted to simplify the usage and management of the ventilation systems for each of these target groups. It chose Anchr as its IT partner to develop this project, which has been named MyLio.
MyLio
The MyLio project at Renson consists of a set of three different user portals through which installed Renson devices can be managed. Each portal offers significant benefits for its target audience. The three portals were built using the Angular framework with a C# back-end and a central SQL database.
The User portal
This ‘user portal’ is aimed at the owners of a Renson ventilation system. Users can see through this portal, among other things, how the current indoor air quality is and even view its history. This way, they can see how their ventilation system automatically does its job. It is also possible to operate the ventilation system, check if everything is working properly, read measurement values, grant or revoke access to people… all through the same portal.
‘Users have, in other words, more control over their indoor air quality and their ventilation system thanks to this portal. A nice added value for user-friendliness,’ says Ronan Dezyn, Product Owner at Renson.
The Installer portal
This portal is aimed at the external installers of Renson ventilation units. Thanks to the portal, they have more responsibility and can manage their installations themselves. They can register devices, group devices within projects, grant or revoke access to users, report issues, view measurement values, detect problems, and so on.
‘Whereas they used to always have to consult our customer service for these matters, they can now take care of it themselves thanks to the portal. It saves them a significant amount of time,’ says Brecht Neyrick, R&D Manager IoT at Renson.
The Admin portal
Finally, there is an internal admin portal developed for Renson employees. ‘In the past, installers would call us when they wanted to manage their devices. We had a full team that was continuously busy supporting installers who wanted to make changes or solve issues,’ says Ronan Dezyn, Product Owner at Renson. ‘Each time, the device ID had to be looked up, and it had to be checked in the database who the device belonged to. Only then could we look into the issue. This not only took a lot of time, but the process was also cumbersome and involved a lot of research.’
About Renson
Renson, a Belgian family business specialising in a healthy and comfortable indoor and outdoor climate through ventilation, shading, façade cladding, and outdoor living, relies on Anchr for the construction and management of 3 user portals, thereby enhancing the usability of its systems for customers, employees, and Renson installers. Renson employs 1,600 people worldwide and has a revenue of 280 million euros.
Collaboration
Today, a team of Anchr consultants and a UX Developer manages and maintains the three portals in close collaboration with Renson: from analysis and UX design to implementation. 'It's great to work together,' says Kenneth Van Coppenolle, IT Consultant at Anchr. 'There is very clear communication among us, and there is regular space for consultation.' Furthermore, Renson finds it important to look ahead and remain future-proof. Therefore, investments in updates and upgrades are made in a timely manner.
Anchr reflects on a long-standing collaboration with Renson, and the partnership will continue into the future. 'We are satisfied with what we already have,' states Brecht Neyrinck, R&D Manager IoT at Renson, 'but we also look forward with our defined roadmap.' 'The roadmap defines the collaboration with Anchr and encompasses concrete actions regarding what we still want to achieve with the portals in the coming years.'
